What is the Democratic caucus?

A precinct caucus is a meeting of fellow Democrats from your local precinct to elect delegates to your county party’s Democratic assembly. Learn more about this grassroots-driven process via the Colorado Democratic Party

When are the 2026 Democratic caucuses?  Are they in person or online?

  • Caucuses will happen during the first week of March, between March 3 and March 7, depending on which county you live in.

  • When is my county hosting caucus and assembly?

  • Historically, caucus has always been a one-day event across the state during the first week of March. Now county parties have the option to pick days that best suit them.

  • Counties also have the option to conduct caucuses in person or as virtual online meetings.

Who can participate in the Democratic precinct caucuses?

To be an eligible caucus-goer:

  • You must be a registered voter and registered as a Democrat.

  • You must be registered to vote and a resident of your precinct at a minimum of 22 days before the caucus.

  • Pre-registered Democratic voters (ages 16 - 17) are eligible to attend, vote and run to be a delegate.
