American Federation of Teachers Endorses Jessie Danielson

Educators Join Growing List of Support

Wheat Ridge, CO – AFT Colorado today announced their endorsement of State House candidate Jessie Danielson. Danielson is a Democrat running in Colorado House District 24.

“Jessie Danielson has what it takes to help reclaim the promise of public education for all of Colorado’s working families,” said Sarah Hamilton, AFT Colorado Executive Director.

The American Federation of Teachers is a union of professionals that champions fairness, democracy, economic opportunity, and high-quality public education, healthcare and public services for students, their families and communities.

“I am honored to have the support of hard-working educators who – day in and day out – prepare our kids to compete in a global economy,” said Danielson. “In the State House I will be a champion on behalf of our neighborhood schools, and will fight to reduce class sizes while protecting our school systems from Tea Party extremists.”

In addition to AFT Colorado, Danielson’s campaign has received the endorsement of numerous current and former elected officials and several other labor organizations, including the Colorado AFL-CIO and AFSCME Council 76.

Jessie Danielson serves as State Director for America Votes. She was appointed by Governor Hickenlooper to the Voter Access and Modernized Election Commission to oversee implementation of election law and is a long-time advocate for greater access for everyone in the political process. She also chairs the board of Emerge Colorado, an organization that encourages and trains Democratic women to run for office, and she serves on the boards of NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado and ProgressNow Colorado. Danielson is a former statewide political director for NARAL Pro-Choice Colorado.

Danielson owns a home in Wheat Ridge, the third generation of her family to live there. She was born and raised in Ault, Colorado, where her family farms. Her website is www.jessiedanielson.com.
