Legislature Honors Fallen Jeffco Sheriff’s Sergeant

(Feb. 17) – The House and Senate voted unanimously today to honor Sgt. David Baldwin, a 27-year veteran of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, who was killed in the line of duty a year ago.

HJR15-1012, sponsored by Reps. Jessie Danielson, D-Wheat Ridge, and Jon Keyser, R-Morrison, renames a portion of Colorado State Highway 93 for Baldwin, who was struck by a speeding driver in January 2014 while on duty.

“Today is a reminder to each of us that we depend on our dedicated law enforcement officials every day to keep our communities safe,” Rep. Danielson told the House, where the benches and gallery were filled with Sgt. Baldwin’s family, Jeffco deputies and state troopers who had come to the Capitol to help honor the fallen sergeant. “Sgt. Baldwin was an outstanding example of one of those public servants, and I am humbled to be here today to honor him with this resolution.”
