CPR: Democrat Jessie Danielson
Colorado Secretary of State: Democrat Jessie Danielson | Colorado Public Radio, May. 29, 2026
In an earlier role as the state director for America Votes, a voting-rights group, she helped pass a marquee 2013 law allowing statewide mail-in voting. Danielson then served on a commission tasked with implementing it.
Once in the statehouse, Danielson shepherded pro-choice and worker-protection bills through the Capitol. She also sponsored legislation to improve voting access for people with disabilities and to establish automatic voter registration at the Division of Motor Vehicles and other government offices.
“I helped build the system that Coloradans love and depend on, and I have defended it ever since we passed it back in 2013,” Danielson said.
Danielson said that experience has prepared her to fight back against President Donald Trump. Beyond administering elections, she said Colorado’s next secretary of state needs to quickly mobilize statewide coalitions to defend voting access. It’s a job she feels ready for after a career collaborating with labor groups, tribal nations and local election officials. [More]
